Following the demarcation of Weija Constituency into three constituencies namely; Anyaa-Sowutuom, Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom, and Weija-Gbawe, Hon. Ayorkor Botchway opted to contest on Npp’s ticket for the newly created Anyaa Sowutuom constituency as she has been residing in the area for more than four years now. The soft spoken Member of Parliament for the then Weija Constituency replied Sedina Tamakloe on Peace Fm’s evening news yesterday.

Sedina Tamakloe the CEO of National Youth Authority was the first to be interviewed. She gave a description as to how she found herself contesting Anyaa Sowutuom seat. According to her she was born in Kumasi but an Antie in Awoshie raised her so she claims to be living in the newly created constituency. However, she displayed her ignorance on the boundaries and political activities in the former Weija Constituency.

Madam Sedina constantly made a false statement that Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has moved from her former constituency which is Weija-Gbawe constituency to contest the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency seat and therefore she welcomes her into the race! However her assertion is not true! Hon. Ayorkor Botchway has never contested for Weija-Gbawe constituency seat but rather contested for Weija Constituency seat and is the current MP for Weija Constituency until the dissolution of this year’s parliament after the December election.

Madam Sedina Tamakloe once again displayed to her listeners that she was not in touch with developmental projects which had been facilitated by Hon. Ayorkor Botchway. Although she claims she has not seen any of such projects, she refused to add that the Ndc government on whose ticket she is contesting did not commission any project in the former Weija Constituency when President Mills went on the Greater Accra commissioning tour, and this resulted in the late president sacking the former MCE Sherriff Otto-Duodu and replacing him with two acting MCE’ before a substantive one was appointed. So in three and a half years Weija Constituency which had Ga South as its Municipal Assembly had four MCE’s!

However, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway was called to respond to Sedina’s allegation and also to speak on her chances for the Anyaa Sowutuom seat. She expressed her surprised at the comments by Sedina Tamakloe that she has moved from Weija-Gbawe and has not seen any project she has lobbied for, although Sedina has been claiming ownership of projects she has personally funded with her MP Common Fund and other monies she has been able to generate from other agencies.

Hon. Ayorkor Botchway then took time to list a few of the projects she has personally lobbied for the then Weija Constituency and currently the Anyaa Sowutuom seat on which she is contesting. Among some of the projects she listed included: construction of Race Course drains and Roads, Tabora Alhaji Road, Tabora Israel Road, Santa Maria Sowutuom Road, Awoshie A- Lang roads, Santa Maria Bridge, donation of computers to Anyaa DA School, Roofing of Anyaa DA School, provision of dual desk and a computer library for Anyaa DA, provision of scholarship to school children, Electrification Project at Ablekuma, Provision of Ambulance to Akaway Hospital, and the construction of two Police Station at Gbawe.

Hon. Ayorkor Botchway finally advised Sedina Tamakloe to refrain from politics of character assassination and rather concentrate on marketing herself, instead of trying to vilify her. Hon. Shirley

Ayorkor Botchway is very optimist the good people of Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency would vote massively for her as she is always in touch with her constituents on every occasion.
